PPC 9500 SCSI connector

I just bought a 18GB SCSI HD for my 9500. It has an 80 pin connector. Am I right to guess that the 9500's SCSI interface is 68 pin? I haven't taken it appart yet to check, but I thought I'd ask here first before I start medelling. I am aware of the 80 pin SCA(or somthing) to 68 pin converters, which I will buy if I need to but I want to know first without taking it appart, finding the drive doesn't fit, then putting it back together and ordering a converter.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

The external SCSI is a DB-25 connector, the internals are 50-pin ribbon connectors. It's SCSI-1, a 68-pin is ultra SCSI-2, the 80-pin is the more recent ultra SCSI-3. You can use a 68-50 pin adapter, but your drive will operate on the slower SCSI-1 speed. Your system has PCI slots and can use a PCI SCSI controller card, get one to fit your HD, which will let you use the speed your drive is capable. good luck

AHHH, figures it has to be about as hard to get this HD in there as possible :D

This is a 9500 though, I don't think it would even be able to handle the full SCSI-3 speed. Not to mention the PCI cards would be damn expensive I bet.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into how much those cards actually are. It might be better to just get an 80 to 50 pin converter, which I found lots of on ebay for 5 bucks. They are so cheap, I hope they are actually good...
