I know this has been posted before no doubt, but I've tried everything listed. Basically I have no sound after the startup chime. The strange thing is that I have sound in Garageband via musical typing which thankfully I'd guess means that it isn't a hardware problem. I've reset my PRAM and there is still no sound.
I checked audio midi setup and my output is set to 44100.0hz, 2 channel 16 bit and both 1 and 2 sliders are all the way to the right. The Slider marked with an M for output is all the way to the left and the value and d/b is N/A. The slider itself is gray and I can't move it.
My machine is a 1.67 GHz PowerPC G4, 10.4.11,1.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM. It's recently just had a new logic board and spruce as despite it's age I still love it. The problem first started when Itunes refused to play any music, and VLC had no sound just video. I updated Itunes and Quicktime after the problem started.
