This is like such old news. The price of my dual G5 has dropped. So to has my 23" Cinema display. Just to the Apple Store and check for yourself.

Oh, so it's not for the people who can afford it the least? That makes lots of sense.

ElDiabloConCaca - at least it still applies through me. I can order it through my dad from UCLA. Now I pay $300 bucks less instead of $200........way to go apple drop more!

Huh? Usually teachers and students are the "poorer" of the population. Students spend all their money on education, while teachers don't get paid what they deserve. Common working-class people typically make more money that students or teachers.

...But you said students weren't included? I thought that was his point, students need the discount even more than teachers and certainly more than "Instituations"

Students already get a discount. A pretty good one at that, too. You can get Final Cut Pro Educational for $500. Mac OS X Server for $500. These are $1000 software packages for 50% off...

The teachers and institutions get a few more bucks off, probably as incentive to boost Apple's share of the education market. Students having computers doesn't boost their share -- teachers and institutions having computers does. Yes, for all intents and purposes it seems to be a marketing move that alienates students, but you have to remember -- students already get a damn good discount on hardware AND software. Ain't no free lunches at Apple, but they'll make it cheap enough for you.

Too bad you have to buy a new computer, or FCP + something cheap.

What's MBNA, NE-W8?

Wait, that's "anywait"... um, NE-way?

FCP is actually $299 for students (**goes to see order status :p)

That's a damn good price! Especially since that's the price of retail FCE, apx.

Not true. Apple gives pretty good discounts on cheaper software packages, too, as well as cheaper hardware items like the iPod.
