printer icons don't dissapear

After printing documents the printer icon appears on the dock but doesn't automatically disapear after printing completes. This leaves a mess of printer icons on the dock at the end of the day. The documents do actually print and disapear from the printer jobs.

Any help on how to get them to dissapear again?
