Printer Won't Print!!!!!

I have a 5 year old imac and printing with an Hp hewlett packard Deskjet 832C has always been some trouble. Until a year ago, and yeterday it completely didn't work, I tried reinstalling drivers, restarting printer, re connecting USB cable to printer, and it prints fine on our 10 year old PC (go figure).

Any ideas? Also: I can't add a USB printer to the Print Center because clicking add will give me all "faded out options".

Which operating system are you using?

Uh, OK, I'm not familiar with Jaguar. But it sounds as if you don't have the correct HP driver installed or Print Setup is broken. There is a shareware repair App for it. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14641

The problem is still persisting!! I reinstalled the drives from the HP website (since my printers a HP printer). AND ALL THE OPTIONS ARE STILL FADED OUT FOR THE USB option (my connection is USB). I don't know the IP of the printer for remote options. ALSO, my printer isn't showing up for the options!

Are there any other options listed in the Print Utility that mention USB? If so, try those.

To be frank, I've read about so many problems with HP printers used with Macs that I wouldn't buy one. At this stage you might consider buying or borrowing a fifty quid Epson printer. I've found them pretty reliable (except when used with some third party ink cartridges).
