Printer's not responding

I am having trouble exporting layout as a PDF from Quark 6.5 and also just sending the job to my default printer. I have checked all the settings and they are all correct. I have checked in Printer Setup Utility and the proper printer is selected and the job que is not stopped. I recently downloaded the most recent security update, but I zapped the PRAM and repaired permissions after that. Still no good.
What's going on? Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Try opening Printer Setup Utility (in Applications/Utilities), select your printer and click Delete. Now click Add Printer and re-select your printer from the list. Any luck?

I already did that but to no avail. The problem is fixed now and it turns out that after going into HD/library/receipts and removing the upgrade pkg, then running YASU and clearing my font cache, everything works fine.
I think the problem was trying to RIP questionable fonts. The fonts were no longer questionable once I went through this process.
