Printing: collate and multiple copies

eric halfabee

You talking to me!
Hi

A little bug I believe with Jaguar printing.

Situation:

When printing from any OS X 10.2.3 application to a networked HP 4000 laserjet (using lpr) we have been getting 2 copies of each page if the 'collate' option is left checked which it is by default.

Now if we unchek this option we can get our 1 desired copy. OK small but annoying bug.

If we want multiple copies and want them collated we put in the number required as you do, and leave the 'collate' option checked.

What we get is 1 copy. Big and really annoying bug.

After further looking into this I decided to add the HP as a AppleTalk printer, this has appeared to clear up the first problem, but the multiple copies and collate issue remains.

Anyone out there that has had similar experiences and can shed some light on this.

Apparantly this bug has been around since 10.1 and remains in 10.2.3, I have even emaileed Apple a bug report on this.

Cheers in advance

try updating ur drivers...

i don't have that problem, not using the same printer though

Hi Wiz

I have done that too, forgot to mention sorry.

Could be that particular printer???

Also just found out that its not the appletalk setting that corrects the first issue ? well not by itself anyway, but CUPS. I went into the CUPS thing on my browser (URL: 127.0.0.1:631) and configured the printer from there, changing the option to turn of the collate as default option and a few printer specific things.

Now all I need is that multiple copies issues to work.

Cheers

eric
