Hi,

I've just started printing to a B&W printer from Artpro 7.5.
The problem is my job is crops every time.

Sometimes i can't print either. The status bar goes away from my screen but nothing prints out?

I've just installed 4 OS X systems & having lots of Font problems. Has nyone any suggestions for troubleshooting??

Also, what version of distiller do i need with OS X??

If anyone manages to answer all these questions. THANKS!!

I'm afraid that the answer to the first part of your problem is going to have the be the usual one:

Are you sure you have the latest drivers for your printer?

Then there is the usual Part 2:

Are you sure you haveinstalled it properly?
Look in Applications/Utilities for the Printer Setup Utility. IS your printer listed? If it is, highlight the printer and then click on the Show Info icon.
The first dropdown option should be Name and Location. Make sure that the printer description there matches the printer itself. The next dropdown option is the Printer Model. Again, make sure it matched the actual printer you use. The third dropdown option is Installable Options. Ensure that these match up with the options on your printer.

A possible answer to the second part of your problem is to double-click on the printer in the Printer Setup Utility. This will display the print queue for that printer. Look at the large printer icon in the middle of that window. Does it say "Jobs Stopped" next to that icon? If so, click on "Start Jobs" on the icon above it.

Font problems? Ain't Panther a [naughty word]?! We have had loads of font problems since upgrading from Jaguar! Panther seems to do something to the font files while copy them onto your hard disk. To overcome this problem, we copied all of our fonts from the original font CDs onto another Mac running Jaguar or OS 9, compressed them into archives font family by font family and then copied the compressed archives onto the Panther machines, before expanding them again.

I'm generally a pretty peaceful kinda guy, but I did send several very angry e-mails to Apple about that one! I'm a graphic designer, so I need a large number of fonts for my work. I was NOT happy about having to create 4000+ font archives!

Strictly speaking, you can use any version of Acrobat on an OS X machine, although Acrobat 6 is the first to run in OS X native mode. Earlier versions will work just fine in Classic mode, assuming you have installed OS 9.2.2.

Hope these help. Sorry I can't be more specific about your printing problems, but there are just too many unknowns to give you a perfect solution. If the suggestions above don't help, e-mail me with more details and I'll see what I can do to help.

wrong forum. Please read the stickies of the forum before posting and also avoid double-postings, systems@fdcuk. Thanks!

PRINTING CROPS MY JOB

oooh! sounds painful.

:D sorry, I couldn't help myself on that one (hey, if I can't make me laugh, who will?)
and while I don't have anything helpful to contribute, my post will at least bump it back to the top of new posts for others to see...
hope you get it figured out.

Unfortunately everything but the distiller app was carbonised in the 5.05 update. Distiller still had to run in classic. Getting the right fonts activated in classic was a real pain. If you run an OSX only system, Acrobat 6.x is your only option, I'm afraid. Take it from someone who has experienced it all.
