printing fast normal from a MAC ?

In Windows I could select printing quality/speed... Best, normal, fast normal, draft, etc. Now with my MAC there seems to be only one speed/quality. It's slow, uses more ink, and for most things I print, not necessary. I have a hp officejet 6110 all-in-one, but that's not where the problem is. Any way around this? ??? THANKS

I have the exact same issue going on. Have you heard anything else? Thank! I miss my windows sometimes... :(

p.s. I have tried going under printer preferences and searching the hard drive and have found NOTHING similar to the Windows default printer settings. I also have an HP Officejet (G85)

I don't have your model printer, but every Mac driver I have seen for an inkjet printer provides user selections of paper type and ink saturation. Explore the settings of your File > Print... dialog box. You should be able to find what you are looking for.

Yes, I miss my PC .... but I remember when it was new to me, and how long it took to learn all the nuances. I'm hoping I'll recover soon from having switched. I mourned when I went from MAC to PC too.

Anyway, what I've learned is: Go to FILE, Go to PRINT... Go to COPIES and PAGES ... Go to Paper Handling ... and that's where you set the quality/speed, etc. HOWEVER, MINE doesn't have the choices for settings. I've reinstalled HP for MAC OS X, but it's still not there. My cousin has a MAC, it's on hers, and she led me through it. I don't know if it's because her MAC is a year older, or that she has a different HP printer. So, I still don't have a solution yet.

Well my three year old Canon has these settings. Maybe you should go to HP and ask them to make better OS X plugins for their printers.

Paper handling generally deals with how the printer handles the paper mechanically. Go through each top-level item in the dialog box that relates to image quality or printer features. Each printer manufacturer handles these issues differently.

The problem is, none of those dialog boxes show up for me. I can't find anything about paper handling and I have looked in all the options under print dialog and under printer preferences. I have tried all the places I would normally try on a windows computer but can't find anything! It is very frustrating. Thanks for the ideas. I will keep looking!

Well, I DID find the paper handling and copies and pages dialog boxes finally. (don't know how I missed those) But still nothing about print quality or color/B&W. Any more ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! It doesn't even work to change the settings ON my printer itself. It just overrides them it seems and prints everything normal, instead of fast.

This is not a System Preferences issue. There is only one main dialog box, the File > Print dialog box that you open every time you print. For my [PostScript] printer, the stuff that corresponds to what you are looking for is under the Copies and Pages pop-up menu.
