printing over SMB

Can I use a printer over SMB?
I'm over SMB network but I don't have a printer. There are many shared. Can I use them with my mac? When I "go to server..." I can see only HD shared and not printer shared?

Ive printed to Windows shared printers using the ip address of the printer, this was for printers shared with HP jetdirect boxes but it should be similar.

You probably have to enable CUPS printing. That is what I had to do to any printer that did not have a network card. Here is a link to get you started.

You should be able to connect to shared printers using the Go to ... menu (is what Apple claims).

But: Windows connectivity / smb sharing with OSX so far only works for shares on the same subnet as your computer. I seem to have the same problem in my situation at work: I can only connect to other PC's or servers by typing in the smb address, they don't show up in the Go to ... menu. Same with printers: I have to find the IP addresses they use and enter those in the Print Center printer setup.

This really sucks and I'm waiting for the next OSX update to fix this, but I can't wait much longer. Alternative: get DAVE. Other alternative: get a PC ....
