printing troubles

I am having all sort of problems printing to printers on our network.
I set the printer up in the print center and it looks ok, but never makes it to the printer.

The netowrk connection works.
The printer works...i can print to it from my NT box.

It just seems to sit in /var/spool/lpd/<myPrinter>

my logs show:
** system.log ***
Aug 29 12:55:45 localhost lpd[25377]: restarted
Aug 29 12:55:46 localhost lpd[25378]: unknown printer: myPrinter

*** lpr.log ***
Aug 29 12:55:45 localhost lpd[25377]: restarted
Aug 29 12:55:46 localhost lpd[25378]: unknown printer: myPrinter

So I decide to do a bit of trouble shooting. I thought that I would first try the WinBlows fix-all and Restart the bax. It f--king worked and I was able to print fine. It even printed everything left in the /var/spool/lpd/<myPrinter>

My log looked like this for a sucessful printer:

*** /var/log/system.log ***
Aug 29 13:32:15 localhost lpd[371]: restarted

*** /var/log/lpr.log ***
Aug 29 13:32:15 localhost lpd[371]: restarted

So now I am really pissed and I decide to see what happend if I Log Out and Login again. The screwed things up. Why should logging out effect the ability to print?

I Log Out at the end of each day so the monkeys that clean out office don't turn into 'Curious George' and start poking around. Has anybody else had this problem?

This is killing me! Does somebody know what the hell is going on?

Thanks,
Jason
