Printing

I'm having problems printing from the macbook to a printer hosted on mac mini.

From any app, when I select Print from the menu the spinning beach ball appears for a while and the app becomes unresponsive, then the print dialogue shows. When I select the printer and click Print I get the error message "Print. Error while printing."

After trying to print a document from Preview, Console tells me

2006-12-10 13:43:56.344 Preview[247] PMSessionValidatePrintSettings failed (error code = -50)
2006-12-10 13:43:58.676 Preview[247] Invalid PMPrintSettings in print info

...and the same for any app trying to print. Local printers work fine.

Google has failed me, so hoping someone here can help.

Just did. Now getting "unable to look up host 'macmini.local' " when document spools.

I wish Apple would sort out printing. I haven't even got on to trying to print to a Windows shared printer...

Yes, on the machine hosting the printer. Surely it doesn't need to be enabled on the MB trying to be a client? I'll try it and have a go.
