Newly setup G5. OS9 with old Word software to allow our copy editors to make a gradual switch to using In-Design in OSX.
Computer WILL print in OS9. Slick and fast.
When you switch to OSX and open Word'08 (or InDesign) the document goes to the printer and hangs up the printer in the Q. I have run permissions. I have made sure it was the correct print driver. You can see the document in the Q but it constipates the printer. Can you give me an idea what to check or try? Thanks for your help!

Canon Image Runner 5055
OS 10.4.11
Have setup 6 other computers identical to this setup. Can't figure out what I have screwed up on this one.

Perhaps I didn't give enough detail. We bought these machines used. The G5 that has a problem is a Dual 2.5 PowerPC G5 w 3 GB of ram. We copied over OS9 and the old software (old version of Word and Pagemaker) So that they could still successfully open their ads and copy using their old software. We also installed OSX, planning to get rid of the old OS when everyone gets all old copy and ads in a newer version. The biggest problem we have had was with the location of fonts. This is the only machine we have had with a print problem.
When she opens old version of Word it will easily print to any printer on the network. Thenetwork default is the IR5055.
When you open either Word '08 or InDesign using OSX and send something to the printer, the printer fires up and shows a message that it is "receiving". It sits there forever and blocks the print Q and never prints. The printer has to be turned off to clear the Q.
Can anyone help me? I am actually a Mac rookie coming from a Windows environment. (I know, boo hiss on me.)

Issued solved... I did some more searching online and found this somewhere and it fixed my problem... not all of the below is what I found in my preference file, but the gist of what this says resolved issue. Thanks to everyone who was mulling it over.
"Navigate to USERS>>Library>>Preferences

look for:

com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist
com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
com.apple.print.defaultpapersize.plist

Delete these files and any others that have the name of your printer in them. Example:

com.apple.print.PrinterProxy.DESKJET_1220C.plist "
