i have a 1.25 ghz emac. running 10.4.4
everytime i start the computer or reboot, the cd drive automatically opens after the 'start up tone.' this make's it impossible to boot to a cd by holding the 'c' button. i can however hold the 'option' button to bring up the boot menu, insert the cd, refresh the bootable options, and finally choose the cd as the bootable device. but that process is just annoying. any ideas as to why my cd drive would be acting this way?

also, this probably has nothing to do with the operating system since it has been doing this since i got the computer (and i got it new). it has just never posed an operational issue...just slightly inconvenient.
