Problem mounting DMGs

Hi guys, ive got a little problem trying to get a .dmg to mount as a CD, the .dmg mounts ok as a drive (if i double click it), but if i choose mount it from the file menu (or right clicking the .dmg file), nothing happens. On my mates PB, all is well, he double clicks the file and a CD appears on his desktop, with mine, doing exactly the same, nothing

any help / advice would be greatly appreciated

Your cd rom probly is to fault. can you read anything off your cd rom?

If not then the data cable to your cd rom might have come loose on your powerbook or in the worst case senerio might be broken.

when you put in a cd, try going to disk utility and see if it finds anything

Firstly, thankyou for the reply Supanatral - well, i dont know if its the cd rom, all is fine with that, its the mounting of a downloaded .dmg file on the desktop, that when right-click - mount it, nothing happens - whereas a cd should appear..?

I misread the first post a bit. The cd rom wouldn't be an issue then.

When you put in a cd into the drive, does it show on the desktop because should mount the drive.

Is your *.dmg file universal or is it for PowerPC?
