problem using ncftpd_spy

i am currently using ncftpd for my ftp needs and i have managed to compile it and make it run perfectly the only problem is that everytime i use the ncftp_spy to see who is accessing it it says no one
i even try accessing it locally and it still displays no one present. Anyone out there using ncftpd too and not encounter any of this problem?

when i type
ncftpd_spy -p 21 who

it displays

No FTP users logged on.

If you are using the 'Enable FTP Sharing' in the Sharing Preference Pane in the Preferences Panel that when you enable the ftp it uses ncftpd not whatever Apple has the default ftp server as (if they aren't using ncftpd as their default). I thought Apple used something else but I can't remember for sure. So that means if you aren't using ncftpd then the spy wouldn't work, or maybe their is just a bug with X? I'll look around and post back if I find anything out.
