Problem With 10.1 Update

Can someone help me?
I have dowloaded the update to 10.1 (489MB).
When I tried to update my MacOS 10.0, the update asked me to reboot the system but after that nothing happened.
Then I updated the system to 10.0.4, but nothing happened when I rebooted.
I've already hold C or Cmd while rebooting ...

Help me, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, another thing:
the update is .dmg, I haven't burned into a cd.

I'm pretty certain that you need to burn a CD. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on the Instant Up-to-Date package at the local CompUSA, and the first thing it does when you click Upgrade is to reboot the machine from the CDROM. (The upgrade sets OpenFirmware to boot from CD without having to hold down any keys on the keyboard). I doubt very much that the upgrade would re-mount its image from a .dmg at reboot. Sorry.
