Problem with Airport Express

I am running both a PC and a MAC in my house (seperate rooms) and am trying to connect them to the internet. I am using Charter Cable to connect to the PC and am attempting to use Airport to connect the MAC wirelessly, I have run through the Airport Admin Utility and the Airport Assistant and have successfully connected Airport. My MAC is receiving a strong signal from the base station and shows at the bottom of the "internet connect" window that is "connected to the internet via ethernet". Yet when I try to open Safari or IE it states that no server is found. I've screwed around with different settings and reset the base three times and can not get it to allow me to open a browser. I need help quick!!!!
System Specs: Mac OS X 10.2.8
512 MB
2 Ghz Dual Pro. PowerPC G5
New Airport Express card

Ok, the setup goes like this.... Co-ax off the wall ----> cable modem----> Lan cable---> WAN port (on the Base Station).... then there is a LAN cable running from the LAN port to the Ethernet card on the PC. The internet problem is on the MAC. All three lights on the Base are on (blinking except the middle) and the MAC shows a strong signal.

Does anyone have a clue what to do? Somewhat in a rush! But I appreciate your help!

Ok, depending on your skils in networking, do you know if you have more than one wan ip from your ISP? If not you have to make sure that your router distributes local ip-add instead of just rerouting one wanip to your pc.
Did you try to connect your mac througt the ethernet?

OK, well i tried connecting the lan line to the mac and under "int. connect" it showed it constantly searching for a status, never connecting. I had DSL at my old house and am running on cable now. When I connect the PC it works, but not on the mac... I am new to networking, this is my first run at it so my skills are slim. The only thing I am confused about is the status bar for airport shows that it has a strong signal and is connected to the internet but safari and IE won't find the server. As far as IP addresses go, it's a new language that im just learning. The airport connection is pulling the IP addresses by DHCP so I don't know what to do manually!

well, acctualy your airport signal strenght has nothing to do with your internet. It is possible to use the router withou even beeing on the net(sharing music etc) Let me just get this right, you have tried connecting the mac over ethernet without any results. If you start up your airport admin tool in utilities your router name should pop up with an ip attached to the right of the name, correct? This Ip should be somthing like 10.0.1.1 or 192.169.0.1 as this is local ip´s. If it says 80. somthing or 62 or somthing else, this is a wan-ip or the one your ISP has given you.
If the ip dosent appear to be local you will have to enable distribute ip´s under network in the airport admin menus when you have accesed the router.
