Using CandyBar to change my finder icon, i found that the dock icon colors are more "purple-ish" can they should really be. I tried changing it back to the original, but it is still purple. How can I change it back!? HELP!

attached is a picture of what the finder should look [top] in the dock and what it now looks like [bottom]

I have noticed this too, but I don't think that it is a problem with CandyBar. I tried copying the finder replacement icon that I wanted to use into photoshop 7 and the color distorted the same way. Adjusting the color came close, but was not successful. A friend suggested that I change the hugh (I don't really know much about images, so don't ask me what that is), but it worked.

I decreased the hugh (-22) and got a nearly spot on match to the original.

Here is a link to the Xicon's article on how to replace the image http://www.xicons.com/articles/dock.php manually.

My problem is similar except that I have a lot of purple like in my trash can and some of my icons are dis colored in System Manager and some pictures come up with bits of purple in them. :( I'm not sure whats up. I noticed it after I switched to Mag flatscreen displays...

Hmm, you probably need to calibrate the screen - when you switch displays like that, the system will keep using the calibrated colors that the old screen used. Sometimes they're not very compatible.

You can calibrate the screen in the Displays pref pane in System Prefs.

looks like it was just a problem with being cheap and buying crappy flat screens. :( when i hooked the computer up to apple displays and viewsonic displays they looked fine, so i guess there is a lot of truth in the old addage, you get what you pay for.
