Problem with Parallel Desktop (frustrated)...

So I've been using Parallel Desktop with my Macbook Pro for about, 2-3 months and it's great! Give me the best of both worlds and I haven't had an issue untill today.

So I was converting some video for my company today and for some reason, my iChat wasn't working. I didn't think nothing of it cause I could just use AIM in PD. Now the videos were on my desktop and I file transfered them to my Macbook via AIM.

Here's the issue,

After I finished uploading my video, I went to delete the files (in parallel) but I notice that the space that was taken up by the files on my hard drive hasn't changed. I searched my entire computer for anything with the same name and came up with nothing.

I started with 35gb of space
added 10 gb of video
deleted 10 gb of video
only have 25 gb of free space.

I have no idea what else to do :-(

The virtual machine hard drive file for your Windows machine in Parallels will "auto-grow" as you add files to it, but it won't do the reverse (ie, "auto-shrink"). You have to run the Parallels Compressor tool in order to recover that space in the virtual machine hard drive file.

If it was with Fusion, you could simply open VMware Tools (after removing the possible snapshots), and shrink the disc. :)
Maybe Parallels 5 will add that to their tools.

Parallels already has a similar function.

Start your Windows virtual machine (assuming you've installed the Parallels virtual machine additions) and choose the "Parallels Compressor" to shrink the virtual machine hard drive image file back down to recover the space.
