I'm a bit confused as to whether the computer at work is a mac or a pc.

Have you forwarded the correct ports to the computer?
Are you dialing into a dial up modem or a high speed modem?
is the computer at work have its firewall turned on?

Hi, The computer at work is a powermac with mac os 10.4.9, and I don't know how can I set it . I want to access from my house with a Powerbook mac os 10.4.9 and dialing into a dial up modem.
I remember in Mac os 9.2, I could set remote access
Yes, the PowerMac at work has a firewal turn on.

Thanks

Ok, so when you started to dial in do you get that terrable sound when its trying to connect or does it keep on ringing?

What i would try doing is first trying to connect to that computer with another computer inside the building and not through dial up just yet. Reason being is because theres so much to go wrong with dial up that if your able to access the computer while inside the local area network, then you know the computers been setup right. Once thats done, then try through dial up.

when I try to connect from my house, I can listen the ring tones, but the powermac in my office don't answering...

What do you mean by listening to the ring tones. Are you talking like when you call someones phone and it rings? or are you talking about the horrible racket that it makes when trying to connect?

I work in a windows enviroment at work where we connect to computers all the time using pcanywhere. I've found that if it keeps on ringing then the host probably isn't started.

Try turning off your firewall for now for testing purposes to see if that fixes the issue

I know this is a stupid quesion but I need to ask it; how sure are you that the number you're dialing is correct?

First, thanks a lot for you reply.
I trying to conect modem by modem..
The number is correct, I can hear the ring, not the horrible racket that it makes when trying to connect, but the moden never answer.
In the old Mac Os 9.2, you can set the Access remote by the answering mode, so, the modem , when you try to connect, answer you call and you can hear the horrible racket.
In the new Mac Os 10.4 I can't found the answering mode to set it.
