Problem with SEAGATE

A few weeks ago I bought a seagate 200GB external harddrive. I loaded a variety of files onto it with no problem, but when I turned it on again my computer told me that the harddrive is unreadable. I've had the same problem since. I haven't dropped the seagate. I bought it new and it looks to be in perfect condition. I am running MAC OSX Tiger on a Powerbook. How do I fix this problem and get my data back?

Try going Hard Drive > App's > Disk Utility > Find te ard disk and verify the disk permissions

I've tried that already, and the verify permissions button is greyed on over the disk.

go to te partition section and is there a partition there?
