Problems emptying the trash

I can't empty the wastebin on the desktop - it keeps saying 'insufficient privileges'. I can't remove the files from the bin either - it just recopys them. And I can't change the privileges.

Where is the trash stored on the drive? Is there a way to empty it from the terminal using su access? :confused:
