problems importing mailboxes, mail, and addressbook

Thru a complicated series of events I've found myself having to import my old mailboxes and mail from an ibook running 10.3 to one running 10.4. This is causing some problems:
First: When I try to import the old mailboxes (from an external hard drive back-up) I see them on the import list in 10.4, and it says they will be listed under "IMPORT" mailbox, but only about 10 out of 40 or so are there? What gives?
Second: I also want to move the actual mail over to the 10.4 machine as well.. where is that? and How do I do it?
Third: Where are my address book files to move import? I can't find them either?
Is there an easier way? Help please!

bestrobots: Cannot give you instructions re the Mail App problem - have not had to do this myself yet. I do know, however, that on OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Apple changed the format of the mailboxes (so that Spotlight can index them). Thunderbird is able to still work with the format of the mailboxes from OS X 10.3 - maybe you could try and work around it that way?

The Mail is located in your Home/User-Folder/Library --> Mail.

In Address Book you can go to "File" and select "Backup Database" - you should then be able to import this backup into the Address Book on your other machine. (In "File" go to "Revert to Database Backup" and locate the backup file you created.)
