It's impossible to upgrade from 10.1 to Jaguar i my G4, 733.
When restarting after the first CD I get a panicmessage:
(cpu 0) can't find driver for PowerMac 3.5.
I have erased the disk and try to install a new Jaguar but when restarting after the first CD the gray appel appears and nothing else happens. I have tried to install the firmware update from CD 1, but I get a message that my computer is not a G4.

Since you appear to have gone through most of the obvious steps to make sure you machine is ready for the upgrade, my suggestion would be checking
a) you have correctly terminated any and all SCSI cards in your machine,
and/or
b) check your RAM for faults or RAM speed quality (there are 3 performance ratings for standard RAM: level 3 is really shitty, level 2 is middle of the road and sometimes not up to spec for OSX, and level 1 is the good stuff that you are usually buying from Apple and reputable PC hardware resellers.)
Try swapping out your ram for another block if you are still having issues.
or
c) If you have a G4 upgrade card, you may have some issues if it is not configured or installed correctly.

Good Luck.
