Problems w/creating pdfs in Illustrator CS after installing Tiger

I recently upgraded to Tiger on my Powerbook and since then have had nothing but problems creating pdfs from Illustrator. I have the full version of Acrobat and tried to reinstall that thinking it was a distiller issue but still no luck. The problem becomes evident when I go to print and try to select Acrobat pdf as my printer. It goes to print then stops. If I open the printer window it just shows that the job/printer has stopped with no explanation.
I wasn't having any issues prior to Tiger. If I go to the printer menu>printer set up>pdf button>save as pdf it will create one but it looks horrible, like a non-postscript file. HELP!!!! This is making me crazy!

Thanks!

Open the /var/log/cups logs and note the info in there. Post them back.
I assume you have completed a repair permissions before and after the Tiger upgrade? (Tiger has significant changes in the printing mechanism).

Yes Natobasso & Clivey! Dont waste your time printing them to disk "save as" directly to pdf from illustrator. CS2 also manages your distiller settings across your adobe apps for consistent pdf creation. Delete any old printers you were using before your upgrade and create them again. You might also check for the most current acrobat ppd. I make many pdf every day but never do use the acrobat ppd. I am most familiar with the scitex brisque ppds. They make perfect high quality ppd for just about any intended use. Also I have run into a couple problems creating pdf in the 800 to 900 mb range When the volume that the file resides on and the destination i am printing to are different example are you printing to a server. We have some issues printing from large fiber channel raid volumes to slower gigbit server volumes but usually only when the pdf start getting big say over 1GB or so. Anyway printing to your local drive may help. good luck. P.S. I have seen this problem before. And I think you are seeing a problem with acrobat so your headed in the right direction. Check adobe for tiger issues. Most my machines run tiger pretty much trouble free. Knock on wood
