Problems with DVD Player

Has anyone else noticed that the the DVD Player application does a poor job of dealing with "video" type material.

Material at 30fps exibits a combing artifact while 24fps is fine. Many software DVD Players have a Film/Video mode so that this doesn't happen.

Does anyone know of a better DVD Player for OS X or of a way to force a video mode?

Thanks,
Brian G.

I don't see any problems, and considering the speed of my G4, i can run movies in the background without skipping. Not sure if the AGP has anything to do with that, but works fine for me. I got my G4 hooked up to my stereo(home made :) ) Sounds like I'm at the theater, all i need is a 22 Cinema Display.

VLC or MPlayer, both free!

I often use VLC to watch DVDs, .avi and .mov files. Great programs.

VLC definitly.

I have a G3 pbook (non-firewire bronze keyboard) and I cant play DVD's at all under X as I dont have a firewire port. I know this sounds odd, but Apple, in their infinite wisdom deemed my book unsuitable to play DVD's under X.

VLC allows me to do this.
