problems with first installation

Hello,

I just installed the osxserver on my mac, but looks like there are some basic elements I'm missing or perhaps the installation didn't succeed. But for sure I can't instal a basic server now.

Please somebody help me on this first time.
I tried to look on basic information online on setting up a server on the osx, but everywhere is too detailed information, and getting nowhere.

What makes you think this? Did the installer display some kind of error to you?

Upon first boot, the OS X Server desktop looks very similar to regular OS X. Are you sure that you don't have a working installation of OS X Server?

Please explain exactly what you're trying to do with OS X Server (share files? share printers? authenticate logins?) and why you think your installation of OS X server has failed.

well the installation went fine i think, but can't install any server.
do i need to install previously things like apache or mysql server?
i have little knowledge; i know about what a server needs to have to operate a website with databas, but have no idea on what is needed to isntall a server.
 
What do you mean "can't install any server?" You need to be much, much, much more specific.

What, precisely, do you want to do with the server? Serve web pages? Share files? Share printers?

You can turn on and turn off services with the "Server Admin" tool. Mac OS X Server includes both Apache and mySQL. If you don't know anything about OS X Server, then you need to read the documentation on it (available for free online, or with the Mac OS X Server DVD that you purchased), or be much more specific in your requests.

An example of a specific request would be, "How do I turn on mySQL in Mac OS X Server?" or "How do I start the Apache web server, and where are the web documents located?"
 
hi, i might need to host my webpage, eventualy share files, but for sure i need it in order to send newsletters.
