Problems with Flash file in a web page?

Hi
I'm new to web design using Dreamweaver and can't figure out how to get a Flash movie to play on my web page. I have a page created in Dreamweaver, I select Insert/Flash and select my file (banner.fla), a Flash icon appears in my table cell but when I preview the page in either IE or Safari I see nothing...am I missing something, is there some additional coding that needs to be inserted?
Any help greatly appreciated.
 
You can't embed a FLA file; you need to publish the Flash movie to SWF format.

File > Publish if memory serves me correctly.
 
And make sure if you have a .swf file and it is really large, to have a pre-loader to know that the actual thing is loading instead of just a white blank space then the movie will start.
