Problems with Secure Connections

hey all,

I am using my ibook at uni and I can not connect to secure sites, I can do whatever I want on non-secure sites. PC's running the same settings can run secure sites fine. I have talked to the sys admin and from his monitoring of the traffic macs arent sending secure site request information to the proxy server but the PC's do.

Anybody out there had the same sort of problem?

What browser are you using and where have you set the proxy information?

I have tried both Safari and IE as well as IE in OS9. All proxy information has been set and every combination of proxy that both i and the sys admin can think of has been used.
