Problems with starting garagband after new installation of Mac OSX 10.4.10

A friend of mine had a serious crash the other week of Mac OSX 10.4.10.

After this crash no programs would start anymore.

He backed up all his personal files on an external HDD and after this he reinstalled OSX. After this reinstallation, Garageband is the only program that still won't start.

Anybody?

You may want to try reseting the preference file, which can become corrupted. It is located in (your home folder)/library/preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist.

You may also want to move any GB projects out of the Music folder, in case one is corrupted.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Eric2006, how do I reset the preference file of garageband?

Fryke, Garageband isn't starting even after a fresh OSX installation. Is this a known thing of OSX?

Next to the garageband problem, Imovie HD is shown as a question mark (?) in the dock, without an icon.
This was the same just after the major crash and my friend says that he did a complete new installation (with removal of all previous installations).

I installed OSX once myself on my macbook and everything was working perfectly, without any problems.
