Problems with VLC and SVCDs :-(

Hi there,

I burnt some SVCDs with Toast, but VLC won't play them at all - the error I get is the following:

ps: cannot peek()
main: no suitable demux module for `vcd/ps:///dev/rdisk1@1,1'

The crazy thing is that the source SVCD works, the target-SVCD runs in standalone DVD-Players - but in my PB 17" with VLC it doesn't...

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your help...

haemi,

How did you try to access the svcd in VLC? When I first tried it, I tried to open one of the files on disc using VLC. Instead, you need to got to the menu: File > Open Disc

I think he used the Open Disc option. I discovered some probs with SVCDs as well but once you specify the VIDEO_TS folder, everything works fine.

Thank you for your replies, but: The SVCD doesn't have such a folder...

And the more important question is: Why does the first CD work, but aftern burning with Toast, the target-CD doesn't - that's the crazy, annoying thing...

My burner does the verifying and there are no problems at all - but when I try to play it, it doesn't work :(

Can anyone help me?

I need a VIDEO_TS-folder to open it using DVD.app - but not all of the SVCDs have such a folder... :-(

Yes, the copied CD does even work in a standalone DVD-player... The content looks the same as of the source-CD... But VLC doesn't play it...
