Programs freeze and won't quit

I have a very annoying problem. I'm using a macbook pro and recently it has started to "freeze" when I'm using programs and as such they won't quit even if I use Force Quit. This has resulted in damaged files cause I can't even turn the computer off the regular way, I have to hold down the power button.
This can happen to any program, but I think it started through using Adobe programs, that's when I first noticed it anyway.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is?
 
You say the Macbook started to freeze and you also say the Programs freeze.. can you access other files if one freezes?
If it is the macbook that freezzez all the time could be a Motherboard Issue.
Try running Disk Utility... or ONYX from Titanium Software (FREE) to repair your Permissions and Caches. Could be a OSX Software issue.
 
I'd suggest that it's a RAM problem. Disk Utility should identify hardware problems with Disk First Aid and Verify/Repair.
