Clean install Tiger yesterday after a bunch of application failed with a update install (lucky me that i backup the system the day before)

here is some unsolved issues i have now unsolved.

1. i used to connected to a widons epson c84 printer using CUPS and Samba method, in which you can option+click on "Add printer" to choose advance options. but it doen't work for tiger. I tried "windows printing" option in tiger, it can't see my windows network while i can connect to it using finde->connect to server.

2. I think I install X11 during installation and X11SDK as well as fink.
but there is no X11 app in my utilitis folder either in spotlight search. i try to install a X11user.pkg i previous download somewhere for pather, but i report there is newer app in my target volume. so now, i don't have X11 support at all. doesn't anyone know how to reinstall X11 using tiger install CD?

1. I agree the advanced option is not there--at least the way it used to be. Maybe it is not needed now. I am able to see my network by clicking "Add" and then using the "More Printers" button.

2. x11 installed for me in my Utilities folder. I haven't tried, but I would imagine you could start up the Tiger intaller and do a custom install of x11--without having to install the whole system again.

I worked a bit more on your issue. I think the option-Add procedure definitely is gone, but, also, I don't think it matters. I am pretty confident that Tiger has overcome the need for option-Add as I was able to get a printer that used to only work via 0ption-Add working. The key is to use the "More Printers" button.

There's a package called "optional installs" in the tiger installation CD.
Run it and click the customize button after choosing the destination disk.
Click the triangle to the left of "applications" and check "X11".
This should do it.

I'm also working in the windows printing issue, Apple support gave up and blamed MS.
Any help will be appreciated.
