Put Windows XP ON...Now I want it OFF!!!

Anyone know the best way to format this partition (I carved out about 50GB) that has windows on it? Is there a way to do it directly in Tiger?

Open "Disk Utility", select the partition, click the "Erase" tab, select a new format, then click "Erase".

Once I get into the utility it won't let me click erase. Any reason for this?

Hmm... did you select a new format from the drop-down menu? Can you take a screenshot of the Disk Utility window and post it here so we can see exactly what's going on?

Another reason for not being able to erase a partition is that you're currently booted from that partition... dumb question, but are you sure Windows XP is installed on that particular partition, and it's not OS X?

it won't let me select a new format. it is unshaded. how do you print screen on a Mac?

Nevermind. Boot Camp had a utility to format the partition.

i bet bootcamp flags it so that it can't be erased from os x , accidentally. which is why he had to use bootcamp to clobber it.
