QT + Powerbooks = Problems?

Hi all -

I'm frustrated, baffled, and a bit confused here. Any advice would be met with great appreciation.

I have a 17" Powerbook G4 with 1Gb RAM. I love it and it's been a great tool. However, I recently upgraded to Tiger. Everything works fine except one thing: QT Movies I created in OS 10.3.9 that have text tracks are not showing their text tracks after my upgrade. The movies play fine on my G5 desktop (10.3.9) and my friend's 12 inch Powerbook (10.4). Looking at the movie properties shows that the text tracks are in the movie, enabled, and in the right position. But if I try to extract the text track, I get a movie of the correct dimensions for the text track, but with nothing visible. If I take the same movie back to another machine running 10.3 with QT 6.5.2, everything is fine.

I had heard a rumor that some powerbooks don't play nicely with QuickTime. Is that true? Can anyone please give me some suggestions as to what I can do to get my movies to display their text tracks? I've already reinstalled 10.4, but that didn't seem to help.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks so much for taking time to reply. I repaired permissions and sure enough there were items to be repaired. Unfortunately, even after a restart, I'm still experiencing the same problems. Alas...

Any other ideas?
