Question about Unix commands

Hi!.

Do any of you guys have any cloue where i can get a book or a file with unix commands...It could be good to know sometimes
:D

I like O'Reilly books -- in this case I'd probably recommend Unix in a Nutshell, but there are a lot of others. I usually buy from http://www.bookpool.com since they are cheaper than buying direct from O'Reilly.

I don't remember if the O'Reilly books are available through LimeWire, but they might be. I have seen a number of UNIX manuals and tutorials there.
:D

you can also look in one of the linux HOW-TOs on www.linux.org. like

http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/Tips-HOWTO.html

that one has examples of piping together commands and stuff. although its linux, there are still a lot of similarities btwn OS X and linux.

also, when i was learning how to use unix, i'd just cd over to /usr/bin, do an ls and type in commands that i thought looked neat. just don't run commands that have ominous names. :p

macfreak88: If you're looking for a UNIX book, I would recommend the book "Inside UNIX" by Chris Hare, Emmett Dulaney and George Eckel. (It was published in 1994, so you might want to look for a newer version, though.) That book is absollutely great! It's about UNIX in general, not about to Mac OS X, but full of really useful information (everything from basic command line to administration, TCP/IP etc.) :)
- And books by SAMS are great!

macfreak88, I have LOTS of man pages in nicely packaged PDFs; just e-mail me a list of the commands you're interested in and I'll e-mail the PDFs back. PS: check my signature--it's my favorite man entry ever.
