I'll start right off saying i don't know crap about setting up a network or configuring. So here goes. My fiancee has a g4 imac and I just installed sbc/yahoo dsl on it. My computer (g4 dp 800) at my apartment is ran through a router at my apartment but hers is the only one in her apartment hooked directly to the dsl modem.
When I use the internet at her house I notice that the internet connection application is being used and after a while it'll ask me if i want to stay connected or disconnect. Also when I start up her computer, it now takes a really long time while it checks the network configuration. At my place, the interet connect app isn't used and my computer boots up quickly.
I guess what I'm getting at is that did I really have to install the sbc/yahoo software or could I just have plugged it in and let the imac configure itself. Thanks in advance.
