okay, most of my MP3's are on my PC. And i am getting a firewire card for my computer after christmas All my USB2's are used and i want to get a Mini-DV Camcorder.

Heres my question, if i use a MP3 remover program (read : iLinkPod) can i get MP3's off my iPod, which was linked through my PC?? or would attaching the Pod to the Mac format the pod?

I would like to do this to erase my Music on my laptop, and put it on through the ipod.

Me getting my Pod is a few months away (march), better ask noiw before its too late. LOL. One more computer payment and i'm done, woot! :D

Mac's can use both PC and Mac format iPods. I have mine PC formatted because I have all my music on my PC. I am using it to listen to music with iTunes from my Mac right now. You can add songs to the library as well.

Cool, now i cannot wait for it, lol. But its not the other way around, just like Floppy/Zip disk. Mac's can read PC & Mac, but PC can only read PC.

I don't think that's right... the newer iPods can be used with both Mac and PC, but only one at a time. If you hook it up to your PC and download your MP3s to the iPod, you cannot hook it up to the Mac and retrieve the MP3s, as the iPod will be formatted for the PC only.

I hope someone else can confirm or deny this for sure, but I'm pretty sure that's correct.

thats what i figured just wanted to make sure, lol. most of my mp3s are on my pc anyway.

Another question : Can i put files that are NOT mp3s on the ipod???

My school work is important to me, and i would like to have a backup for it somewhere, and if i get an iPod, me getting an external harddrive will probably have to wait. unless i win the lotto ::ha::

Yes. The iPod can act as a standard hard disk storage device for documents, files, etc. The magic comes in when iTunes stores music files and playlists in the iPod's invisible folder system...
