Quick question about rechargeable batteries...

Barking at the moon.
I never know what to do here. I have a Canon PowerShot S100 which is a great camera, but the battery life is another thing. Sometimes the batteries seem to last forever, sometimes they run out after like 10 shots. I wonder if it has to do the recharging process.

Do I need to fully discharge the camera battery before recharging it? The battery says:

Li-ion 3.6v 700mAh

It's model number is NB-1L

Thanks!

As I recall, those batteries do need to be drained completely before a full charge will take.

That info really only applies to NiCad rechargeables, which are subject to battery memory. Lithium Ion (Li-On) batts are not subject to battery memory and do not have special requirements for recharging. If your battery life is consistely getting worse, then it may be time to replace. If it varies from one time to the next, that may just be how you use your camera and the mem cards (lots of flash, using the camera to transfer/copy photos, etc.) Those all take a toll on battery life.
