Am I the only one super excited about QuickBooks for X? This is huge for me. I would have thought more people would have been talking about it.

Versiontracker never even mentioned it as far as I have noticed in the past few days. Seems odd.

I just got mine today, installed it, imported my old data perfectly. Yes!

That leaves one and only one freaking Classic app...Distiller. Ugh.

That is probably because I haven't the foggiest idea what QuickBooks really is.

PS, You have too many Macs! ;)

yea, what the hell is QuickBooks?!

when i read this thread title, i assumed you were referring to the increasing CPU speed of Apple's Notebook computers, and comments regarding them! LOL!! << blush >>

QuickBooks is accounting software from Intuit, the makers of Quicken (is it me, or do I sound like their commerical now). If you run your own business QuickBooks is exciting to you, if you don't, well, you could care less :) But it is very important to OS X as it is a very widely used business app that now runs natively.

It's not as flashy as Pro Tools and Quark are, and not as big of a muss has been made about it having not been on OS X, but it's probably more important overall in being released as it will be used by more people then use Quark or Pro Tools, or Avid and the like.

btoneill nailed it, so I'm not going to expand on that.

After playing with it for a little bit, it looks like it's pretty much QuickBooks 4, but native now. My biz partner has it on the PC and his is different, so it looks like the Mac version is still a bit behind.

I don't care though, cuz 4.0 did everything I need, just simply wasn't native.

I tried AccountEdge in desperation, but the file conversion from QB sucked and I wasn't about to start re-entering everything. Also, AE ran like crap, even on a good Mac. QB runs great. The wait has been worth it.

Distiller needs a major upgrade to use the core PDF functions in OSX. If Adobe makes a nice job of it, and they will :), this piece of software will really ROCK when they'll have finished it: it will be lightning-fast and very, VERY handy to use with Quark for example.

BTW remind me to kill the whole Quark team if they don't make a Carbon, stable and functional Quark 6. No new functions (such as useless XML) or new stuff, just make it stable and user-friendly. I already know I'll have to kill part of the team, though (v6 will be Cocoa).

? Quark
? Distiller
? FlightCheck
? Fontographer
? ATMDeluxe/ATReunion
? Mars Rising

are making me keep OS9, combined to the overall speed of this OS, which I need to run Photoshop/Illustrator/Quark and to play Unreal Tourn. and Quake III.

Some of them will never get ported, thus I'll keep this OS9 forever. I still think my iMac (Indigo G3/500 model) is more adapted to 9 than to X.
