QuickTime encoding loosing audio???

play thing
I'm trying to encode some video for streamed web delivery using QT 7.0.2.

No being the most experienced with video compression, I have opted to use the export preset for medium bandwidth broadband, and then I have optimzed for streaming (rather than download) in the video settings.

The problem is that the audio settings are grey (unavailable) and the audio drops off the end product.

Can anybody shed any light on why I am loosing audio?

What is your source file? AFAIK, there's no way to get QuickTime to convert the audio in a an MPEG. Don't ask me why. You need some non-QT program to get the audio, like ffmpegX or any MPEG demuxer (I'm afraid I can't think of any at the moment, but I know there are some).

There are 'missing mpeg tools' or something like that. Will find those on VT and MU.
