Quicktime messing up!

Yo, I finally got my movie working without subtitles (thx guys!). The movie is 1:32:49, when the video finally decodes in quicktime, the movie becomes 43:20:36 My movie is halved and it's really annoying. This file is mkv and I'm using Perian with quicktime to play it. Other players like VLC don't have this problem but they can't skim through videos like quicktime, and that's something I need How can I stop my movie from being halved? Plz help, I'm really desperate.
I got newest version of everything, including perian.
Got an iMAC.

Howabout using VLC to export the movie into a different format that QuickTime can play? I have luck with this with AVI files that refuse to play in QuickTime.

File > Streaming/Exporting Wizard

after that, what do you do to format it, all those options confuse me.

You can basically choose whatever you want, leaving most of the defaults as-is.

Under "Transcode video", you may want to select something like "MPEG-4 Video" at a Bitrate of "1024".

Under "Transcode Audio", you may want to select something like "MPEG 4 Audio" at a Bitrate of 128 or greater.

What doesn't work? Did the move fail to export? Does it export correctly but not play in QuickTime?

the export just fails, app crashes unexpectedly every time.
