Quicktime

I'm a recent owner of a imac G5 and I'm finding downloading software a hassle compared to a PC. My question this time is why does my latest Quicktime, which came with my new Mac (not Pro) work only sporadicly, sometimes it works, but not well, and other times I'm sat looking at the icon waiting for something to happen, finally giving up. I'm trying to find how good video on different digital cameras are on Steves Digicams camera page. I also like to click on some of the short news streams in CNN. I tried downloading media player, when I clicked on the icon to install. It asked me what application to open it. I didn't have any of these problems with my PC. I should be able to download click on application and away we go just like my pc. I'm a pensioner. Please give me a step by step if you can help me. - Thanks

Go here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html and click on the "Free Download Now" button to get the latest Quicktime (7.0.3 as of this writing) installer.

I checked CNN.com's video system requirements and it suggests that ALL mac users should utilize the "...CNN Pipeline's Webplayer for instant access–without the download."

If you want the latest Windows Media Player available for Mac OS X this link should work: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...57-5031-4ac6-840a-6e07547b6aeb&displaylang=en

...and sub-par, non–Mac-friendly website design is a headache for Mac users, unfortunately. Thankfully not all web designers are such dolts...
