Radeon 7000 Graphics Card and OpenGL

I read that at www.opengl.org that new NVIDIA and ATI OpenGL extension specifications will enhance OpenGL functionality. Does anyone know if this means that cards like the Radeon 7000 will benefit from this?

As I understand it, these extensions are implemented in the hardware. They are new commands that the graphic card understands, and once the drivers have been updated, the drivers will be able to use these commands to simplify and speed up some processes.
What this means is that it makes no difference for existing cards. And on the new cards, it only makes a difference if the software and drivers are optimised to use these extensions.
