Just replaced my NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 in my G5 Dual 1.8 (early 2004)
with a ATI 9600 Pro. I am running Panther 10.3.9. I try a straight boot up and my gray apple screen appears for a few seconds and freezes, it will not get beyond that to my desktop. I can boot up in safe mode and get the desktop. I zapped the PRAM a few times and no luck. I have tried to start up from the CD and the screen freezes right after the gray start up screen.
I thought if I could reinstall the system things would work out. It seems like the card does not like some of the extensions. Yes, everything is connected properly and it's in the AGP slot nice and firmly. I even had to get the outrageously costly DVI to ADC adapter that apple provides.
Any ideas?
