Hi, My imac uses DDR 4200 RAM. I was wondering if I used a memory card that is made for 5300/4200, if it would actually be slower if it has to "dumb it self down vs a card whose highest speed is 4200. The reason I ask is because the faster card is cheaper, but someone said it might cause it to be not as effective on a motherboard made for 4200.
Anyone know if this is true or not. Please let me know if I can just go ahead and get the faster RAM without sacrificing some speed. If it helps, my other RAM card is probably only a 4200 (it is the one installed in the imac G5's.
