rc.comon bootup

ok - so before I read the thread on where to put startup items - I modified the /private/etc/rc.common file - and you guessed it - I am now stuck at bootup at Initializing Network.

I go into OS9 to change the modification - oops - can't - the file is in an invisible file!

has anyone run into this and have a suggestion as to how to modify the rc.common file now that I have screwed it up (short of re-installing OSX?)

For anyone who cares....

Apple could not help Quote:
"there is a way to get access to the invisible files, but I cannot tell you how to do it because we are not allowed"

read: something to do with resedit.

Solution:
In os9 - open resedit - get info on the private folder - uncheck invisible.

open the rc.common file - change back to where you started (you did ake a backup right?) save the file.

in resedit - get info on the private folder, check invisible again - restart in osx

BINGO!! :)
