RCE, anyone ?

Okay, here's the deal. Bought a DVD from the US and wanna play it in Germany. Over here, the DVD region code is '2'. Both my stand alone and computer DVD player are coded '2'. I ripped the DVD so as to get rid of the region coding, using 'DVDBackup'. To no avail. Apparently, RCE (Region Code Enhancement) detects unregionized players and defies regular deregionalization by ripping.
Any ideas how to circumvent this RCE ?

Note that I'm not doing anything illegal. I bought that DVD and just want to have a chance to enjoy it.

It's usually possible to make your player zone free with the remote control or a firmware hack. Try searching for your player model and "zone free" with google and see if you find anything.
