This is really annoying. I have a radeon 8500 and under displays i have to choose where i want a second display to be. Thats dumb if i dont have a second monitor connected why do i have 2 displays? I have to put it some where and anywhere i put it it gets in the way. Why do they bother with that? How do i take it off and if u cant whats the location u place it in?

Do you have some sort of connector connected to a different display port on the back of the card? Like a DVI to VGA adapter or something?

NOPE nothing. All i have connected to the video card is a vga connector for my monitor thats all. All the other ports are open. What really annoying is every time i take a snap shot of my desktop 2 pictures come out. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yeah i installed that already. Really apperciate your help wish i could fix this. Ill try in the ati software if there some way to disable it.

Well when i opened the ati displays software i got 2 screens. One with the setting of my monitor and another which says vga and diffrent setting. I figured they have it enabled some how 2 monitors. I was trying to look for ways to cancel the bga display but i cant find it. When i choose somewhere to position the 2nd monitor in the system pref i can actually drag something there and keep it there. For example if i position it to the left of my screen when my mouse goes there it disaperas to the other screen and i can drop a file there. heres a pic of how the System prf looks for me.

You could just buy a second monitor!

Seriously, I have the same card and when I had one monitor disconnected I did not see this, but I just used OS X system preferences. I don't think you need to use the ATI stuff at all - 10.2 has the drivers built in - I have not upgraded to anything from ATI - they scare me when it comes to software.

If you can change the resolution of the VGA to the same as what you have your current monitor set at and click the mirroring button that will at least make it seem that you have one monitor. Then you won't have this BLACK HOLE of sorts sitting at the side of your monitor.
